Would it really shock you if I said that our US government could be doing a better job of managing our funds and performing various functions? Femas (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) handling of the Katrina Hurricane disaster is just one example of how it is completely inept when it comes to unexpected events. Whether it went to the terrorists or not was immaterial; it went somewhere in Iraq and that was the intent Somehow it would help jump-start the economy and provide a better life for them. How did that work out, you may ask? Dont ask. Our tax dollars at work.

Another unsuccessful agency is the US Postal Service. Its been losing money for decades, in spite of rising postal rates. It seems rather odd that FedEx, UPS, and DHL can make tons of profits but the governments delivery service cannot. Does that tells us something? Even with those two cent increases, mail delivery is still relatively slow and mail is continually being lost or sent astray. Manual labor remains the dominant force in an industry that should be close to being processes via total automation by now.

But there must be some agency that is the most efficient when it comes to managing our money. How about the military which still gives out contracts for ships and tanks that dont work or meet standards? Oops. Only later we discover the flaws that deem them unusable. They still over pay for simple tools like hammers and drills that could be bought at Home Depot for a tenth of the cost. Our congress people take more breaks than our kids, for every holiday and the summer. Why? Because theyre so overworked? Yet they can serve a single term and get a pension and health benefits for life. Can you work for your company for only four years and get a retirement package?

The IRS is a lousy department. Try calling their hotline for a tax question. One recent poll stated that well over three-quarters of their advice was wrong. And that was for a basic question. Our tax code is obviously way to complicated, but is that the governments fault? Well of course it is. They wrote it! Anyway, its another example of a bureaucratic mess.

Its not that the government does everything wrong. The military has advanced weaponry and replaces them as needed. They supply the armed forces with whatever is required and spend money without equal. They also offer veteran benefits like low-cost mortgages and small business loans to companies. They print our money, albeit not always perfectly and maintain the Federal Reserve. If the head of that department could just keep his mouth shut once in a while, the stock market wouldnt go crazy like it does. But Im supposed to be touching on their good virtues at this point. So, what gives?

Dont get me wrong. I was born here, love the free-enterprise system and the liberties Im afforded in America. I just hate the waste and misspending of our taxes. Besides the 100 billion going to Iraq each year, I would prefer to see that much stay here go to our people at home that could use it. Seniors under Medicare, education, equitable tax rates, cancer research, and too many others to mention. We deserve a bit better use of our money and should get a better return. Remember that you cant spell USA without us.

I will freely admit that I did a bad, bad thing last week. Well, it wasnt a really bad thing unless you were one of those that fell for it I guess. What did I do that was so bad? I set up the Paulbots. Yes, evil rotten me, I know.

When I wrote Earmarking Our Way to Oblivion I purposefully left out any mention of Ron Paul even though I knew he was just as dirty as all the rest. See, Mr. Pauls own earmark fetish was certainly no real secret to anyone paying attention and with enough desire to dig a little. But the Paulbots were quick to comment about how because of the corruption that earmarks bring and how that they many times violate the Constitutional powers of Congress that this is exactly the reason why we needed Ron Paul.

Not a day goes by that supporters of Ron Paul arent out in droves proclaiming any conservative that does not support their candidate is an evil neo-con, trumpeting how Mr. Paul is a true constitutionist and is the only man qualified to be President. Well, I guess we now see how accurate their description of their own golden boy really is considering news that has really taken off in the last couple days about his own requests for earmarks.

It is no secret to those of us that are out there everyday taking fire from the Paulbots that when Ron Paul commands them to jump they not only ask how high, but also at what angle, what flavor of Kool Aid Mr. Paul would desire they bring him after they land, how many ice cubes he would like in said drink, what color he would like his house painted, how many gallons of gas he needs them to put in his car, what time he would like his wakeup call for the following morning, how he desires his eggs cooked and whether or not he wants them to polish his fine silver clockwise or counterclockwise. The answer to that last one is that Ron Paul demands they first polish it six times clockwise followed by a single counterclockwise finishing polish. Their loyalty to the illusion of their candidate as a savior of us all and as someone that actually holds the Constitution dear is admirable if not highly misguided and naive.

Now the Wall Street Journal and other sources have what Paulbots are robotically and predictably calling a hit pieces on their candidate. Of course I still question whether or not Ron Paul really can be considered a candidate when he barely cracks one percent in the polls. But that is another topic for another day. Anyway these hit pieces detail how Mr. Paul, supposedly a libertarian, has requested millions of taxpayer dollars for roles not delegated to the federal government by we the people. Hardly a libertarian stance. Hardly hit pieces. Simply the truth.

Oh ... well ... uh ... Ron Paul 2008! Hes still the man! Right Paulbots?

Last week the Paulbots were flooding me with comments about how we needed Ron Paul and about how I was right about the earmark problem. But this week I have particularly loved the responses by these same hacks to these new revelations and that have again flooded into my mailbox on cue since I blogged about Pauls own earmarks on Tuesday. They say things like, Well the money was going to be spent anyway! and, Its ok because he is just serving his constituents like he is supposed to, or boldly proclaim, there is nothing unconstitutional about Pauls earmarks! or my personal favorite, Well, yeah he requested the earmarks but he voted against them!

That last one makes me chuckle. Its a pathetic having your cake and eating it too argument that no true libertarian would embrace. Anyone with half a brain sees through this tactic as nothing but style over substance worthy of the staunchest liberals. Mr. Paul certainly understands that in the current corrupt Washington culture his earmark requests would pass even as he votes against them. He knows all he has to do is attach them to the spending bill in order to reap the benefits. A true libertarian would not even request them in the first place.

But rather than calling for his impeachment for violating the constitution, something I have done time and again for all politicians, regardless of party, that violate the Constitution, the Paulbots rush out to defend the man they have deemed as the one. Truth be damned! He really is a TRUE libertarian! Full ludicrous speed ahead!

It doesnt matter that they were out there in mass decrying earmarks just a week before. It doesnt matter that the Constitution is clear in Article I, Section 8 when it limits the powers of Congress to tax and spend on a concise list of things defined as the general Welfare. It doesnt mater if Ron Paul has requested federal money to deal with issues found nowhere in these federal powers from funding for shrimp to building hospitals to maintaining trolleys. None of that matters because ... well ... Ron Paul is da man! Praise the Savior of our Republic! Hallelujah! And how dare I and others take his name in vain!

Blind loyalty is never attractive. And it is often deadly.

The Constitution is simple. It allows for laws and spending on the only a short list of topics which are clearly stated and any libertarian worth their salt knows of James Madisons discussion of this in Federalist 41. The list that is there is the list. Thats it Mr. Paul. Thats it Paulbots. Nothing about shrimp. Nothing about trolleys. Nothing about most of what Pauls earmarks are spending money on. No amount of whining about Ron Paul getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar will change the facts. No amount of hurling slurs like neo-con or fascist or globalist at those that exposed Mr. Paul will make a difference in the truth. Such tactics dont work for liberals and they will not work for you.

Im sorry I entrapped you last week. But it is something you are going to learn from as you progress on in life. Principles are only principles if you are willing to put your money where your mouth is and always watch your own glass house before you cast the first stone.

Its so simple even a Paulbot can understand it. And I call on Ron Paul to be a true libertarian and draw up articles of impeachment against himself, convince his fellow Congressmen to approve the action and finally vote in favor of the action when the time comes to pay the piper.

But he wont. He wont because the fact is there are few true libertarians out here in the real world. We are a lonely bunch for sure. Even though lots of people envision themselves as such, when push comes to show they are at best nothing more than a bastard cousin; the liberaltarian. And that is why we are in trouble.

Unfortunately, the medications cannot be pathway-specific. The medications will interrupt all brain activity. Since seizure activity involves only certain pathways, the result is that the brain is more globally affected (the entire brain). This includes pathways that are not involved in the seizure. This decrease in brain activity can result in many side effects. They range from behavior/personality changes to blurred or double vision.

Interpersonal communication is something most of us do on a daily basis, although we may not be aware that is what it is called.

Interpersonal communication differs from other forms of communication in various ways. It is also very important in development.

The following list outlines what interpersonal communication is and what some of the characterizes are. It also explains why we need it.

1. What is it?

Interpersonal communication involves a close group of participants. It is basically the everyday conversations you carry on and it includes speeches, general friendly exchanges, arguments and basically anytime you speak to someone.

2. How is it different than other forms of communication?

Interpersonal communication involves face to face encounters. You are talking in person not over a computer, phone or through written information. You can get immediate responses.

You are also able to benefit from body language. You hear a voice where you can pick up on different dialects and speech patterns.

3. How does interpersonal communication vary?

The variances in interpersonal communication involve the people and situations. You communicate differently with someone you know well verses a stranger. You will have different topics of conversation when talking to your preacher or your best friend.

These variations make interpersonal communication flexibility important for difference circumstances.

4. How do we use interpersonal communication?

We use interpersonal communication for a variety of reasons. You use it to learn new information, such as when asking questions. You use it to share information, such as when telling a story. You use it to define yourself, such as when giving a speech.

You also use it to fulfill the natural need for contact with other people. Interpersonal communication is how we develop from infant to adult. People who have a problem with shyness approach finding solutions to their problem in different ways.

Negative coping mechanisms:

There are some people who resort to negative ways to solve their shyness. They may opt to take drugs which allegedly can relieve feelings of shyness (even though no such drug exists.) Because shy people may get depressed by their inability to have normal relationships with other people, they may opt to take anti-depressants - that is a very bad idea because anti-depressants are meant to help people whose depression has deeper causes then simple shyness.

Others abuse alcohol because they think they can drown their sorrows in liquor and the shyness will go away. Or they drink because someone may have told them that drinking makes one bolder because you lose your inhibitions. Some may foolishly take drugs and alcohol together - a combination which has fatal results.

Taking illegal drugs such as marijuana and cocaine is another step some shy people resort to but which only leaves them addicted. That is why drug abuse is so common in Hollywood - many well-known personalities think that their shyness will become less obvious or disappear onstage if they take illegal drugs. You may be surprised how many popular celebrities are actually painfully shy off-camera.

Coping properly with shyness:

Shyness can be dealt with if you use the right methods. Try to meet new people aside from the same old faces you see everyday. This may necessitate taking new routes going home - use a different bus and strike up a conversation with the bus driver. Try cycling or walking through other neighborhoods and compliment homeowners who are tending their gardens about how beautiful their roses seem to be growing.

If a new family moves in the neighborhood, ring their doorbell and present them with a cake or a pie to welcome them (even store-bought sweets will do if you do not bake.) Go to church - people who worship God are usually approachable people who will not make fun of you, even if you have another problem such as stuttering that may compound your shyness.

Go to public events, like parades and concerts. You will be surprised how easy it is to converse with strangers if you share the same interests. Compare notes on how well this band seems to be developing, and how many of their CDs you each have in your personal collections.

Even relatives may be complete strangers to you if your shyness has kept you from interacting with them. Hunt down the phone number of a cousin you find nice enough and call her up, ask her how her children are, if her husband still works at that job he hates. Try to stay in touch with family because they will usually be the first to rush to your aid when you get in trouble - and not just because you want to practice conversing with someone.

You may be surprised how many of your friends are still your friends after you have neglected them if you did not solve shyness. Do take the time to keep in touch or renew ties with them so that you do not get rejected in the future.
